The Army Institute of Law (AIL) was established in Jul 1999 under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). AIL was inaugurated by Lt. Gen. H B Kala, PVSM, AVSM, SC, the then GOC-in-C HQ Western Command on 15 Jul 1999. It shifted to its permanent location at Sector-68, Mohali on 21 Jul 2003. AIL Mohali has been inaugurated by HE Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, President of India on 01 Dec 2003. The Institute is running 5-year degree course in law after 10+2, primarily for the wards of serving and ex-servicemen of Army. However 20 percent seats are available for the civilians also. Out of this 15 percent are reserved for Punjab Residents and 5 percent for All India Civil Category.

            

             ACADEMIC AND ADMINSTRATIVE INFRACTURE AT MOHALI           

AIL Mohali has an impressive architectural structure in the vicinity of Punjab and Haryana High Court. The building has administrative offices, class rooms with modern teaching aids, moot court room seminar room, Computer lab with Leased line Internet connectivity, spacious library with e-library section, faculty rooms with LAN and internet, conference hall with modern audio visual aids etc. The Campus also has the state-of-the-art Multipurpose Hall, Gymnasium, Generator room, MI Room, CSD counter, Cafe and other essential services.

            

            AFFILIATION AND APPROVAL           

The Institute is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala and approved by the Bar Council of India.

 

B.A., LL.B. (5 YEAR DEGREE COURSE) 

B.A., LL.B. 5 year Degree Course comprising 10 semesters has been adopted with the objective of encompassing knowledge of social science subjects viz. Literature, Sociology, Economics, Political Science and History at the initial stage. This is advantageous in the study of law and to put the students on strong footing for undertaking professional legal education and competitive acumen. Students are awarded the degree of BA (Law) after completion of 3 years study and after full 5 years, they get degree of B.A., LL.B.

              

            TEACHING METHODOLOGY

           The teaching methodology adopted at AIL covers participative classroom teaching, seminars, assignments, extension lectures, guided library sessions, project presentations/ reports, computer application, moot courts and clinical legal work.

 Complementary compulsory subjects have been introduced in first two years, in order to inculcate ethical and moral values. The students have to clear these subjects in order to be eligible for appearing in the semester examinations.             

            EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES           

For over all development of the personality of the students, the Institute emphasizes on extra curricular activities and sports. The students, as per their interest, are motivated to become members of the Debating Society, Fine Arts Society, Literary Society, Cultural Association, Quiz Association or Moot Court Society. AIL encourages its students to participate in different events and activities organized from time to time.

                        CAREER COUNSELLING AND PLACEMENT CELL

           To facilitate better insight into functional aspects of the legal profession and to familiarize students with work environment, the career counselling guidance and placement cell has been established. It provides practical training to the budding professionals in legal work in the courts, prosecution departments, commercial corporate establishments, lawyer’s chambers etc.

The Management of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Charitable Hospital Trust and all its employees committed to provide quality training both in the classrooms and in the field to its students to enable them to Provide Quality Services in the field of Nursing Nationally and Internationally. The main aims of the school of nursing programme are:

1. To prepare nurses with the sound educational programme in nursing to enable them to function as efficient members of the health team, beginning with the competencies for first level position in all kinds of health care settings.

2. To help nurses to develop an ability to cooperate and coordinate with members of the health team in the prevention of disease, promotion of health and rehabilitation of the sick.

3. To help nurses in their personal and professional development so that they are able to make maximum contribution to the society as useful and productive individuals, citizen as well as efficient nurses.

4. To serve as the base for further professional education and specialization in nursing.

5. To prepare nurses to keep pace with latest professional and technological development and use these for providing nursing care services.

BUILDING PLAN

The SGHS School of Nursing has its own building according to the norms laid by the University and INC, Delhi. Total land planned for Institution and Hostel is 4 ½ Acre.  The School building has sufficient constructed area with proper ventilation, electric fitting, Sanitary & related infrastructure.    

The trust has also planned new construction of the hostel for the students within the same complex. Time being we had made an arrangement for the stay of the students.

HEALTH SERVICES PLAN FOR THE STUDENTS

Health services plan will be made available by the School in the parent hospital at concessional rates.

This include:

1. Medical examination at the admission, only medically fit students get admission ticket.

2. Annual medical checkup

3. Vaccination against typhoid, cholera, and other communicable diseases will be given to the students.

A complete health record of the students is maintained by the School.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

The nurses after completing the Graduate Nursing & Midwifery Diploma Program (G.N.M Diploma Program) the graduates are expected to:

2. Assess the health need of individual, facilities through out their life from birth to death.

3. Plan appropriate action to help people retain or sustains their best possible level of health in all circumstances.

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab was established at Patiala in the year 2006 by the State Legislature by passing the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, Act, 2006. The University is registered with the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, under Section 2(f) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. It has the approval of the Bar Council of India for imparting professional legal education.

 The University offers B.A., LL.B.(Hons.) Five Years Integrated Course divided into Ten Semesters (i.e., two semesters in one academic year). English, Economics, History, Political Science and Sociology are taught as the social science components of legal studies. Power Point Presentations are compulsory for each seminar in the respective subject. The University has a well stocked library with more than 12,000 books, journals, e-journals, periodicals, etc. etc. The University has two advanced computer labs. Internet facility is provided through leased line and the entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The students are encouraged to have their own lap tops. The university has a well furnished Moot Court Hall, Conference Hall, Lecture Rooms and Class Rooms equipped with modern teaching aids and equipments. 

RGNUL is presently located at its headquarters the Mohindra Kothi, one of the heritage buildings of the erstwhile Patiala State. Its permanent campus shall soon come up in an area of 50 acre on Patiala-Bhadson Road, about 8 kms from Patiala city. As RGNUL is an upcoming National Law University, significant endeavour is made to evolve a pragmatic and participative learning environment promoting creative teaching of the international standards. Our aim is to provide students with holistic academic and professional environment conducive to grooming prospective professionals in the field of law. The teaching methodology entails both intensive and extensive class room teaching and participative learning. The students are confronted with the real life problems and are trained to acquire analytical and logical skills. Therefore, teaching schedule includes lectures, discussions, case studies, daily seminars and project works, ensuring student participation. The University follows the semester system where social science subjects are taught along with law for the first two years to initiate students towards an interdisciplinary approach to legal education. Internship of the University has been divided into two stages through the Initial and the Advanced Internship Programmes.

  RGNUL is an autonomous body, governed by its own Statutory Councils.
